Cleeve is a village 9 miles (14 km) south west of Bristol. It has a population of about 1,000. Cleeve Toot is an Iron Age hill fort above Goblin Combe. In the woodland above the village YCCCART has identified and surveyed a number of enclosures, which share similar features and may potentially have been occupied in the post-Roman period. This woodland is full of archaeological features such as the remains of mining and boundary marker stones.
